ahhhh Mr Simone Porte Jacquemus you are a genius. I often find that some catwalk shows make me feel more emotion then others but I have never been bought to tears..... that was all until I watched the Jacquemus FW20 collection. The show had so much meaning behind it that I really felt connected to this collection. The simplicity of the linen pieces that all held references to his childhood made me feel apart of Simones visual journey.

The show started with Jacquemus explaining the meaning behind the name of the collection as 97 was the year Jacquemus made his first skirt out of a curtain for his mother at just seven years old, you can feel the anticipation and emotion building up. Then the music starts and the lights turn on. I found that even the set of the show was stunning even though it was just a simple white space it let the clothes do all the talking and the strong lights showed off the stunning colours.
As for the collection itself Jacquemus said he wanted to do something more "timeless"and "more honest on what we want to say as a brand and house" which is a comparison compared to his previous collections which have been bursting with brights fabrics and prints. The colour palette is full of beiges which go back to the same colour linen Jacquemus mothers skirt was made from. Even a replica of that very skirt was part of the show. The collection embodies a minimal aesthetic but the clothes flaunt themselves and there is certainly not a single boring piece.
What I love about Jacquemus collections is his stunning casting. The models to me all embody this Parisian style and I feel it more so in this personal collection. Laetitia Casta walked in the show and Jacquemus explained that the reason she wanted her to walk in it because he felt that she had an aura of his late mother Valerie Jacquemus and mentioned this in his emotional speech before the show began. The show was the cause of THAT hairlip by Gigi Hadid that caused quite the conversation on social media the day after. Overall this show made me fall deeper in love with the art of the runway and makes me feel grateful that I'm alive and witnessing fashion history be constantly made.
