ugh this book has me at loss for words. I'm never usually effected by a book but this book as ironic as it sounds changed my life. I read this book when I was going through a tough time in my life and this book kind of acted like a pat on the back to tell me it was gonna be okay.

First off let me explain who the author Patti smith is. Patti smith is an American singer-songwriter, poet and author of the masterpiece called "just kids". I purchased this book after I heard so many people raving about how much of a interesting read it is. I mean even THE Johnny Depp himself recommended it, I took that as a sign to read it. The book is a documentation of her relationship with artist Robert Mapplethorpe. The book really captures the booming life of New York city in the 70s and 60s and the life they lived behind the doors of the Chelsea hotel.

I think what I adore about this book is how you can just feel her energy throughout and I felt her emotions come through the pages. I think you have to have a particular talent to allow the reader to feel your energy so much through your words, and Patti has mastered this perfectly through just kids.
