Vogue Italia has always been my favourite vogue from their stunning covers to unique issues they're doing everything right. But recently I fell even more in love with them as their January 2020 covers are all illustrated. The seven covers are designed by well known art icons, emerging talents or comic book legends. On the caption for their instagram post they state that these designs are created "without travelling, shipping entire wardrobes of clothes or polluting in anyway. the challenge was to prove it is possible to show clothes without photographing them".

Vogue Italia are doing amazing things here, not only are they saving the environment by not creating a physical photoshoot.Vogue also states that the money saved from the production of the shoot will be donated to the restoration of the tragic floods. I think its about time that major companies in fashion are thinking outside the box whether its doing something to help the environment or donate money to people in need. At a time where their is such trauma I the world like the Australian fires a platform like vogue could use its social media presence to get the message out about how their audience can help.

All the covers are so varied and demonstrate such different illustrative styles, its so refreshing to see such a broad choice of covers. The artists that created the issues are; David Salle, Vanessa Beecroft, Delphine Desane, Cassi Namoda, Yoshitake Amano, Milo Manara and Paolo Ventura. To me this proves that fashion is art and that we shouldn't just rely on photography to see the beauty in clothes. Whats so stunning about the illustrations is that the clothes are actually wearing branded clothes such as Gucci and are of actual models. As an artist myself I take my hat off to vogue for being able to give these emerging artists a voice. Its particularly hard to make a name for yourself in the creative industry and it can be at times cut throat so I can only imagine how surreal it must feel for these artist to know there own work is on covers across the globe snd their helping a good cause along side it, its a a win win.
